ええ、皆様、田舎においてはこれは単なるお使いではなく、
壮大な冒険譚なのであります！
幕開けは、バス停までの過酷な30分の行軍。
「急いで、急いで！乗り遅れちゃうよ、絶好の旅行日和なのに！」と、
陽気でそそっかしい連れ合いが跳ね回るように先を歩き、
私の演劇的な苦悩など完全に無視して急き立ててきます。
「やれやれ」と私は大仰な絶望とともにため息をつきました。
「警察署へ赴くのに極地探検家のような忍耐を要求されるのは、
この田舎という名の辺境だけだよ」しかし、そこからがこの旅の真骨頂！
ガタゴト揺れるバスでJR駅へ到着すれば、栄光の鉄の馬が待っています。
ガタンゴトン！警察署の最寄り駅までレールの上を揺られていく――ああ、
やっぱり汽車旅がいちばんです！
連れ合いが切符を落として慌てふためいていようとも、
この線路のロマンには敵いません。
そこから警察署までの最後の道のりを行進します。まったく、
田舎暮らしというのは酷く疲れる、しかし間違いなく
極上の演劇的舞台なのであります！
All aboard for the grand odyssey of renewing a driver's license! Yes, folks, in the countryside, it’s not a mere errand; it's an epic journey! The curtain rises with a punishing thirty-minute march to the bus stop.
'Hurry, hurry! We’re going to miss it, and it’s perfect weather for a trip!' chirped my delightfully hasty companion, bouncing ahead and completely ignoring my dramatic agony.
'My dear,' I sighed with theatrical despair, 'only in this rustic purgatory does a simple trip to the police station require the endurance of a polar explorer.
But then, the true joy of the journey begins! A bumpy bus ride delivers us to the JR station, where the glorious iron horse awaits. Clackety-clack! Rocking along the rails to the station nearest the precinct—ah, rail travel truly is the absolute best! You can't beat the romance of the tracks, even if my companion is currently dropping their ticket.
We march the final stretch to the police station. Good grief, country living is an exhausting, yet undeniably magnificent, theatrical play!
